The inspiration for the Super D Technology Center came from the client's vision of a smart tech building that not only incorporates cutting-edge technology but also caters to the future working and living habits of scientists. The goal was to create a smart working space that is efficient, flexible, and fosters collaboration. This building serves not only as an office but also as a community hub for developing new technologies of the future.
One of the key strengths of the Super D Technology Center is its sustainable design strategies. The building is LEED Gold certified and has been awarded China's Green Building Label. It incorporates both active and passive design strategies to conserve resources and enhance the overall efficiency of the building. Active strategies include the use of solar panels and a smart system to optimize energy consumption, while passive strategies such as the stack effect and sky garden enhance natural ventilation and lower the building's latent temperature.
The realization of the Super D Technology Center involved the use of specific materials and technologies. The exterior of the building features green landscapes, curved steel structures, and low-energy glass. These elements not only contribute to the aesthetic appeal of the building but also help reduce solar intake and enhance air quality. The interior incorporates imported anodized aluminum panels, cove ceiling lighting, and LED laminated tempered glass. These materials not only create a modern and international architectural style but also maximize light diffusion and energy efficiency.
The Super D Technology Center spans 17 storeys and stands at a height of 100 meters. Its design allows for maximum layout flexibility, with a universal grid and raised floor system throughout the building. The ground floor features a triple volume void with a generous lobby space that can be easily transformed for temporary exhibitions or conferences. The offices on the upper floors have a 7.5-meter ceiling height, providing ample space for the needs of the end users. Additionally, the West Wing offices are equipped with outdoor sky gardens, creating multi-purpose leisure spaces in a garden setting.
The Super D Technology Center was completed in May 2015 and officially opened in 2016. It is located in the Nanshan District of Shenzhen. Throughout the design and construction process, the project adhered to LEED Certificate requirements and incorporated extensive research on sustainability. The building is a grade 5A facility, meeting the highest standards for commercial buildings.
The Super D Technology Center has received recognition for its outstanding design and innovative approach. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2018. This prestigious award acknowledges the building's creative and ingenious design, its incorporation of best practices in art, science, design, and technology, and its contribution to improving the quality of life.
The Super D Technology Center is a testament to the possibilities of sustainable and innovative design in the commercial office sector. With its smart technology integration, flexible spaces, and commitment to sustainability, it sets a new standard for the future of office buildings.
